GOD's Revelation: Feeding the Poor is not a Substitute for Fasting

Letter from the Editor:

GOD says:

2:183 -- O you who believe fasting is decreed for you as it was decreed for those before you that you may become reverent.

2:184 -- Specific numbers of days. Then whomever amongst you who is ill or on a trip should fast an equivalent number of other days. It is incumbent upon those who possess the means to feed the poor in exchange. The one who does more good is better for him. The fact that you are fasting is good for you if you knew.

2:185 -- The month of Ramadan is the one wherein the Quran was revealed a guidance for the people and proofs of guidance and statute. Then those of you who witness this month shall fast. And the one who is ill or on a trip shall fast an equivalent number of other days. GOD wants to make things easy for you not to make them difficult in order to complete your obligations and to exalt GOD for what He has bestowed upon you that you may be grateful.

These verses are GOD's requirements for fasting. Traditionally, verse 2:184 has been understood as; if it is too difficult for you to fast, you can exchange it by feeding a poor person for each day you have missed. This understanding is not a commandment from GOD, because it would not befit the "god of the people". Buying out your fasting could only apply to those who can afford it and the poor people would be out of luck. This is not GOD as described in the Quran. As the above translation notes, it is a further duty upon those with means to feed the poor in exchange for the blessing that they have. I urge those among you who can afford to try to feed poor people during this month. This extra duty should be thought of as an extra blessing from GOD in order to come ever closer to Him. GOD's Challenge: Bring 10 Suras Like This

GOD asserts in the Quran that He will continue to show His Signs to us. The believers have no problem when GOD's Signs are revealed and they see them as means of glorification of GOD. On the other hand, those with a lot of doubt in their hearts and the disbelievers and those who like to think of GOD as the chairman of the board of a company, continue their objection and rejection of GOD's Signs until they are overwhelmed by GOD's punishment. The belief of these groups after GOD's judgment is issued will not help them in the least. In the meanwhile, we must preach the message of "worshiping GOD Alone". GOD gives us reassurance that His word is eternal and nothing shall abrogate His word.

One of the most important Signs from GOD is the mathematical structure of the Quran. This mathematics is based on the Ultimate Mathematics of primes, composites, twin primes, twin prime companions and their respective indices. The mathematics becomes more complex as primes and composites that are partitionable into numbers with specific mathematical properties, such as a prime and its index adding up to another prime. The mathematics also transcends across number bases and other mind-boggling phenomena.

By GOD's Grace, the number of believers who sincerely seek GOD has been steadily increasing and we get a lot of inquiries about the Quranic mathematical structure. In this issue of the journal, I will give you a few cases of the Ultimate Mathematics of the Quran to enrage the disbelievers, to assure the people of the book, to increase the faith of the faithful and we are sure that those with impure hearts and disbelievers will say "so what?"

The number of chapters in the Quran is 114.

114 = 6 x 19 and 619 is the 114th prime

There are primes which are the sum of a prime and its index. Let us tabulate all such primes.

Note the 19th element in the above table happens to be 619. Furthermore, in the last line in the above table, we see 19 98 521 and 619. One notes that chapter 19 has 98 verses and the number of the frequency of A.L.M. in chapter 2, the first initialed sura in the Quran is 521 x 19.

Another Sign is in the counts of H.M.'s in the seven H.M. initialed suras 40 through 46. The total number of Ha's and Meem's utilized in these chapters is 2147. We know that this number is a multiple of 19 and it is 113 x 19. Note that 113 is the 30th prime and 30 is the 19th composite. These are simple observations that one can make.

The number 2147 is responsible for controlling many of the Quranic parameters as I will try to explain.

The 2147th verse in initialed chapters is 38:1 and the 1822nd verse in the uninitialed suras is 37:182. Note that 37:182 is the last verse in chapter 37 and it is therefore situated right before 38:1. It happens that the 1822nd composite is 2147. The reader notes that division of verses into initialed and uninitiated suras is divinely controlled. Furthermore, the verse 18:22 is the 931st verse in the uninitiated suras. The number 931 = 49 x 19. You can easily verify that sura 49 has 18 verses and it is the 22nd uninitiated sura in the Quran.

Now let us look at sura 42. This sura is the only sura in the Quran with two verses of pure initials. The count of H's + M's in this sura is 353. This is the only count yielding a prime number amongst these seven H.M. initialed suras. The number 353 is the 71st prime number and it is easy to verify that the 42nd uninitiated sura is 71. The 28th composite is 42 and sura 71 has 28 verses. Furthermore, the number 4271 is a twin prime and its index is 114, which yields the number of suras in the Quran.

Trinity, a man-made concept

GOD's message has always been and is and will be that He is the only god and there are no other god beside Him. This seems to be a very simple and straight-forward statement but many people develop ideas about GOD not consistent with His Greatness. The people who idolize Jesus against his wishes, try to elevate him to rank with GOD and say that he is the son of GOD and a part of the so-called trinity attributed to GOD, the Almighty. This concept was never mentioned or advocated by Jesus as it is evident from the Bible. GOD tells us in the Quran in chapter 112 that He never begets nor is begotten.

GOD also tells us in the Quran that there is nothing He can not do including having a son, but it is below His Dignity to have a son. He is far above our description of Him. This is why I stress so much on GOD's most beautiful Names as the perfect description of GOD. GOD tells us that whenever, they say GOD has begotten a son that the skies are about to shatter and the land to tear asunder and the mountains are about to crumble [2]. These ideas about GOD are not befitting the All Gracious. He is the initiator of the skies and land and everything between them. All that is done is to say Be and It Is. From this commandment we see the universe we observe and the earth we live on and the air we breathe and infinitely many things we enjoy. It is incumbent upon the people in the United States to think about this very carefully. Do not attribute human-like attributes to GOD. Remember that GOD has blessed us more than any other nation in the world. If we are not thankful for His blessing and blaspheme against Him, GOD's wrath will be upon us. GOD also warns us about the Day of Judgment. That is the day we should really worry about. The way out is very simple. Ask GOD to increase your knowledge. Please read the Quran. I have seen so many people read so many books. This is simply one book and could be read like Star Wars or any romantic novel that you like to read. Read it like a text book that you want to learn from not to see if it coincides with your idea of GOD.

Let me briefly introduce who GOD really is. This is the translation of the Quran, verses 21-24 of chapter 59.

59:22 -- He is GOD; there is no other god beside Him. Knower of all secrets and declarations. He is the All Gracious, the All Merciful.

59:23 -- He is GOD; there is no other god besides Him. The King, the All Sacred, the Peace, the Faithful, the Supreme, the Almighty, the All Powerful, the All Dignified, GOD be glorified, far above having partners.

59:24 -- He is GOD; the Creator, the Initiator, the Designer. To Him belongs the most beautiful names. Glorifying Him is everything in the Skies and the land. He is the Almighty, the All Wise.

Happy Ramadan

Ramadan is upon us again and the annual feast for our soul is underway. This is the month that the Quran was physically revealed and we should take this opportunity to read it from cover to cover during this month.

Behruz Mofidi has expressed and is expressing, in the strongest terms, that although; he has translated the preface, the footnotes, the subtitles, the items in the parenthesis, and the appendices from Rashad's English translation of the Quran; these items ARE NOT parts of the Quran. The explanation of the mathematical structure of the Quran and the count of the initials as it was revealed to Rashad is an implicit Quranic component.

A Web version of Behruz's translation is now available for the viewers on http;//www.quraninfarsi.org. May GOD reward Behruz and Saeed Talari for their efforts.
